About
Len Kutchma is a 44 year old roofer from Winnipeg, MB. Born and raised in Winnipeg he attended a private Catholic school for the first 9 years of his schooling life finishing the remainder in the public school system. He has worked in several fields including being self-employed for nearly 13 years.
His interests include politics, blogging, computers, theoretical physics, reading, science fiction, sports, weight lifting, history (with an emphasis on ancient Egypt) and most forms of music especially jazz. Len despises rap.
Some of his personal favourites include peanut butter and banana sandwiches, CFL football and all things science fiction from literature to television to film. His favourite writer is Ray Bradbury with Kurt Vonnegut coming in a close second. His favourite television show is Stargate SG-1. (the older ones that is, not the newer ones - the Goa’uld rule!) while his top movie pick is Lord of the Rings. As far as Len is concerned nothing tops a BBQ’d steak and a cold beer after a hard day’s work.
He is a former member of the now defunct Reform Party of Canada and a staunch supporter of the Conservative Party of Canada. Len is very passionate about his political beliefs.
Len has been blogging in one form or another for about 7 years having started in the spring of 2000. One could say he was blogging when blogging wasn’t cool. Despite this, Len’s various blogs rarely lived beyond a couple of years as he quickly grew tired of them then set out to start new ones. The Johnny Appleseed of the blogosphere you could say.
His current blog riteturnonly.com was born in September of 2004 and originally resided at Blogger/BlogSpot. Nearly 2 years to the day of its birth Len decided to take the plunge and move Rite Turn Only to its own domain. Leaving the comfy surroundings of Blogger was not an easy thing to do but alas one must leave the nest sooner or later.
To answer an oft asked question regarding the significance of this blog’s byline From Sea To Sea. Short answer: it is Canada’s motto. Long answer: it is translated from the Latin phrase A Mari usque ad Mare which appears at the bottom of Canada’s Coat of Arms.
It was derived from Psalm 72:8 which reads “Et dominabitur a mari usque ad mare, et a flumine usque ad terminos terrae,” and in the King James version, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.” More on that here.
In addition to running this site he is also a contributor to another called A Western Heart. AWH deals with news and/or political issues from around the world and boasts an international team of writers. If that isn’t enough he also freelances for an online newspaper called The Standard-Freelancer. [defunct]
When he’s not blogging (or up on a roof top) you can usually find Len in one of several different places. He’s a co-Manager of an MSN group called United Against Terrorism and goes by the pseudonym cpt_canuck99. You can also find Len at Blogger Forum where he is a Moderator helping fellow bloggers with blog-related problems. His handle over there is CptCanuck. Do pop by for a visit. He says that it’s the best blogger help forum on the net. He tends to hang around the WordPress Support Forum quite a bit as well pitching in where he can. It keeps him off the streets. When not online you can probably find him hanging out at Birds Hill Provincial Park with the apple of his eye Sassy, an 8 year old Husky - Shepherd cross.
