Good Luck Jack
In case anyone missed it Jack Layton today announced he has prostate cancer. Despite this terrible news he said he plans to stay on as NDP leader while undergoing treatment.
Fortunately prostate cancer can be successfully treated if detected early enough.
At a time like this I want to put petty partisan politics to the side and wish Mr. Layton a full and speedy recovery. With any luck he’ll be back in the House raising hell in no time.

I echo your wishes for Mr. Layton’s recovery. Long before we take sides, we’re all human — and all prone to the ills life serves up from time to time.
As for “being back in the House raising hell in no time”, I’d far rather someone who actually has something to say like Mr. Layton there than 90% of the Liberal MPs and their daily shout-fest. I may not agree with the NDP’s position on an issue, but it is generally delivered in a sensible fashion.
So, to your health, Jack! — and I look forward to your speedy recovery and return to the intensity of political life.

Thank you for that classy post.
Nearly got sick looking at comments on CBC, G&M and I stopped looking elsewhere after that; a lot very partisan and hateful.
I sincerely hope that others follow your lead.

The fact some people can’t or won’t refrain from spewing hateful vitriol, especially at a time like this, is sad.
I may not agree with Jack Layton’s politics but he is a fellow Canadian. Moreover, he stands up for what he believes in. I respect that and have said so many times in the past.
We all want the same things in life. We want our families to be happy, free and secure and we want our country to thrive. We just have different opinions on how best to achieve it.
Looks like Jack cannot give up his death grip on power.
