Roadside Bomb Claims 6 Canadians

Sad news from Afghanistan. Six Canadian soldiers were killed Sunday when a roadside bomb detonated hitting the vehicle they were traveling in.
The Canadian Forces confirmed the deaths Sunday afternoon, and said one other soldier suffered life-threatening injuries.
“It’s been a long day. I have the unfortunate duty of informing you that six Canadian soldiers were killed and two of their comrades were injured today after a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle,” Col. Mike Cessford, acting commander of the Canadian Forces, …

Justice is an Illusion

About a week ago I wrote an entry highly critical of the Canadian justice system in general and Judge Lismer in particular. In case you didn’t see that post here is a brief recap.
In July 2005 Winnipgger Christopher Irvine was involved in three robberies. In the first instance he pulled a knife on the female employee of a boutique demanding cash. He then forced the woman into a backroom and rubbed her vagina while holding the blade to her face. …

Bounty on NATO

Is it just me or have things become really desperate in Afghanistan for both the Taliban and Al-Qaeda?
A local Afghan leader claims there is a bounty on NATO forces currently deployed in his country. Haji Saifullah, district leader for Maywand, said in an interview that he has reason to believe the Pakistan ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) is offering money to people to lay mines. In an interview he said, “If the mine goes off on coalition forces they are going to …

Copyright Infringement?

From the The Star,
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has come out slugging over a “Hockey Fight in Canada” website.
The public network has served a one-man B.C.-based website with a cease and desist order, calling on www.hockeyfightincanada.com to stop using the Hockey Night In Canada takeoff logos and name on its site, caps and T-shirts.
As much as I hate to admit this because I think the web site is a cool idea the CBC may have a case. If you look closely …

Respect is Earned

MP Garth Turner has a post up on his blog called Smear in which he complains that the internet has become a vehicle for “character assassination, trash talk, slander and falsehood”. While I would agree with this assessment I would also suggest that it takes two to tango. It seems that there is a lot of drive-by smearing going on by all sides.
I found his post of particular interest because I think it sort of ties into another he did …

Speaking of Legal Action…

Liberal MP Mark Holland told National Newswatch he is considering legal action over a column written by Ezra Levant.
“…..we are speaking with lawyers about our legal options so I can’t say too much….”
That’s Mr. Holland’s right and privilege. But I can say this much, if mine was one of the names on those files that were rifled through I’d be looking to sue someone’s ass off too.

“New Crusaders”

Don’t think for one moment that Britain’s anemic response to Iran hasn’t gone unnoticed in some quarters.
The Argentinian foreign secretary today said his country’s government would use “more firmness” in its attempts to gain sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.
If this keeps up the British government may want to look into a bulk rate long distance telephone plan.
Meanwhile, the good news just keeps pouring in. We have brave jihadists in Iraq roasting babies and crucifying 14-year-old boys. We have crazy Imams …

Sacre Bleu

“I cannot describe how absolutely outraged I am.” Bahaha! Sorry for the outburst but I couldn’t contain myself. Jason Cherniak is steaming mad about a Tory attack ad that allegedly refers to Stephane Dion as a traitor. There’s only two problems with that:

The ad was an old one from February that got yanked.
The ad never referred to Dion as a traitor. It said vendu tel quel which means sold as is. It’s called a play on words.

With respect to his …
