Beefs and Bouquets: Green Style
15 April 2007 under Canadian Affairs
A couple of notes on the Green Party, one good and one not so good. First of all congratulations to Elizabeth May and the Greens for their position on Kevin Potvin. Shortly after the controversy broke over Potvin’s article I was taken aback by May’s “… benefit of the doubt” remark and took her to task for it. Glad to see her finally disassociate herself from this character. Wonder if the families of the Canadian citizens murdered by barbarians on that sunny September morning saw any beauty in the falling towers?
Even now Potvin is spewing his ridiculous filth. In response to the decision of the Greens to drop him he wrote this so-called journalistic piece.
In that year, I don’t know how many hundreds of people I talked to who confessed to me shameful and frightening thoughts they had when watching 9/11. Many others weren’t shamed or frightened at their thoughts at all - they just came right out and said, “the US got what it deserved,” and “its about time somebody slapped them back,” and “did they think they would never get what they got coming to them?”
“… I began to think there were a lot of moms, dads, soccer coaches, accountants and plumbers saying, if only in hushed whispers, “Right on!”
I haven’t met any people like that but then again I don’t travel in Potvin’s circles. Thankfully.
Now that that is out of the way on to point number two. Did anyone see the segment of CTV’s Question Period featuring May? Did you see her meltdown regarding Jack Layton? Too funny. She was moaning and groaning about how the NDP has refused to talk to her. In fact, during her meltdown she said,
“What the hell is wrong with Jack Layton that he can’t answer a phone call?”
Well, here’s a newsflash for you May. Jack Layton doesn’t owe you or your fringe party anything. If Layton and the NDP choose to ignore you and your little fringe band of politicos that is their choice. You should spend more time worrying about your one-issue platform then the NDP.
