Pinging
I’ve been observing a strange behaviour over the course of the last month or so with respect to pinging but never bothered to investigate the problem. Now I see that Blogging Tories member Jesse Gritter Online is reporting the same problem.
The only time I ever ping is when I post a new item. But for about the last month or so this blog keeps sneaking up to the top of the BT blogroll for some strange reason. It’s certainly not because I’m abusing the ping system - I don’t unnecessarily ping. It’s either a problem with Blogrolling or with Blogger itself. I know that Blogger is configured to automatically ping Weblogs after updates so maybe it’s pinging certain blogs when it shouldn’t. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this?

I noticed the same thing with my blog. However, it only happens when I update my template and “republish” my blog.

I think it also happens if people leave a fresh comment on a post.
I have a slightly different problem: getting my posts listed on the aggregator page.

I realize a ping is sent out when alterations are made to the template and it would seem the same applies when a comment is left but this is happening even when none of the above has occurred.
