RTO Update

Apologies for not having been around much lately but work has been keeping me extremely busy lately. I’m in the roofing business and business has been booming which makes for very long days. After being up on a roof in the hot sun for 12 hours a day one doesn’t feel much like blogging when [...]

Principles

Rex Murphy has a wonderful piece on Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the Globe and Mail. Here’s an excerpt,
Say what one wishes about Stephen Harper, he doesn’t duck.He is, in his personal demeanour, reserved, formal, polite, studious. Almost, in fact, a classic nerd. His personality, insofar as he allows himself to project one in public, [...]

Suicide Attack On Canadian Troops

Two more Canadian soldiers have been killed in the war on terror in Afghanistan. Dead are Cpl. Francisco Gomez, 44, of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton, and Cpl. Jason Patrick Warren, 29, of the Black Watch, the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada, based in Montreal.

Two Canadian soldiers were killed and eight [...]

The Other Side Speaks Out

As the fighting in Lebanon seems to intensify tensions elsewhere in the world are beginning to run high. Here in Canada supporters on both side of the issue are starting to make some noise. First, we had the Canadian Arab Federation blaming Prime Minister Harper for the deaths of 8 Canadians in Lebanon. In a [...]

A Rose By Any Other Name

The Solution is Clear

Ever since the current crisis in the Middle East erupted many of the world’s leaders, most notably the European variety, have been howling like mad dogs over the so-called disproportionate Israeli response. They are also calling on Israel to enter into negotiations.
First of all what is disproportionate? What would the Europeans have the Israelis do? [...]

BBC At It Again

Once again the BBC rears its ugly head. Nick Thorpe is a BBC correspondent and has been reporting from near the Lebanese-Israeli border. He was explaining that he and his little entourage were on the way to Jenin to check out reports that Palestinian militants were building Qassam rockets when a phone call diverted them [...]

I’ll Pass

Who wants to be the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada? Don’t think I’d want the job.

Arab League Split on Crisis

As Israel continues to pound Lebanon in it’s quest to banish Hezbollah from that country members of the Arab League seem to be split on the situation. The 22-member organization held an emergency meeting Saturday in Cairo and called for UN intervention to stop the fighting. They also promised unconditional support for Lebanon. However this [...]

Sad Day

My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the three servicemen killed in an accident during a routine training flight off the coast of Nova Scotia. Killed in the Cormorant helicopter crash were Sgt. Duane Brazil, 39; Master Cpl. Kirk Noel, 33; and Cpl. Trevor McDavid, 31.
Four others suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Heroes, all [...]
