The Fun is Just Beginning
With all of the scandals currently engulfing the Liberals how in the world will they be able to resort to their old tactic of painting Stephen Harper as a shadowy, scary figure with a hidden agenda? The only thing scary around here is the Liberal Party of Canada and its desperate bid to grab as much cash as it can anyway it can. I’ve never looked forward to January as much as I am these days.
Another thing the Grits might want to think about. It’s still too early to tell who made what but if someone benefited from insider trading then obviously others lost money. And many of those stock owners live outside of Canada far beyond the influence of the Liberals. If the RCMP uncover any wrongdoing those parties are free to sue to recover their losses. Even worse, what will the Liberals do if the US Securities and Exchange Commission becomes involved? The fun is just beginning. Make sure to stock up on the beer and popcorn.

Do you seriously think there is any difference between Left and Right, Liberal and Conservative, whatever and whatever else parties?
The idea of government is very simple: you pay them, they own you. Whatever their name. Will it be any sweeter if Harper, not Martin, squeezes you for money?

Well let’s see…
Liberals = Big Government/Massive Spending/High Taxation.
Conservatives = Smaller Government/Controlled Spending/Lower Taxation/More Individual Freedom
To answer your question, yes I think it will be sweeter, much sweeter.
Not to mention the fact that the current administration is arguably the most corrupt in this nation’s history and on that basis alone should be turfed.
But thanks for the comment.

Len, if ever you want to link up corruption to your local Liberal candidate, here are a few tips in connecting the dots:
1 - Check the names against the Industry Canada Registry of Lobbyists:
http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/epic/internet/inlobbyist-lobbyiste.nsf/en/h_nx00012e.html
* check both registries, from January 20, 2005 to present and from prior to January 20, 2005
* check who the principal of the company or organization lobbied for
2 - Check the names against the Elections Canada Contributions Database
http://www.elections.ca/scripts/webpep/fin/welcome.aspx?lang=e
* check all elections from 1997 to present
* check corporate and personal contributions
* cross-reference in Google for spouse names, or company names
And finally, check Government of Canada Contracts Disclosure. These are available on each Government of Canada Department site.

It’s funny how a little digging will turn up all sorts of connections between donations to the Liberal Party, lobbying activities and the granting of Government of Canada contracting.
Once you make the connection, post it! Within a day or two, it’ll be on google!

Every time I hear/read someone say “they’re all the same”… It drives me round the bend.
How can anyone be so coccooned from reality to make such a statement?
The degree of effort required to change the channel, turn off the xbox, or open a newspaper must be horrendously wearying to the average nutcase, or knutcase if you prefer.

Just in…
Headline on Bourque.com
CONSERVATIVE MOMENTUM: CON 33% LIB 32%
Link to Canada.com article on Ipsos Reid poll

A few things to note:
- The first poll of 2006 has the Conservatives in the lead
- The NDP vote is going up, which will mean less Liberal seats
- The momentum is with the Tories

Thanks for that info Jim. I’m not as prolific in the research department as some of my fellow bloggers - this helps alot.

I agree RightJab. But then again I blame the Liberals for the current voter apathy and mistrust.

RightJab,
I don’t read newspapers - I write them. This is also why I don’t play Xbox and what was it? oh, I don’t have a TV.
I hold it, you are big enough to understand that every public image is painstakingly designed, built and maintained to make people _believe_.
Some people believe that Gov’t will have mercy and leave them cash for beer and popcorn. Some people get driven round the bend on hearing that Chrysler Voyager and Dodge Caravan are the same
