One Year Old
It’s only been a year but what a ride it’s been. Since its birth one year ago today, the Blogging Tories have ballooned to include more than 200 sites collectively viewed by more than 30,000 daily. Just like the Conservative Party, the Blogging Tories is a big tent association of bloggers who come from the center, center-right and right-wings of the political spectrum.
BT was initially a grassroots blogroll and still is but it has become so much more. Many of its members are involved politically both publicly and behind the scenes. BT has also played a pivotal role in its coverage of several stories, most notably Abotech, the Grewal tapes, AdScam and most recently the income trust story. Thanks to the tenacity of BT many stories that were previously ignored by the MSM suddenly became newsworthy.
The success of the Blogging Tories can also be measured by the attempts of others to duplicate it. Indeed, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Try as they may, the others pale in comparison to the true original. That’s why the Blogging Tories are “…the envy of the copycats!”
Happy Birthday!

Yes indeed, we have accomplished much. I joined somewhere around August, and what amazing things alone we have seen since then. It’s hard to believe that such an influential group of bloggers came together in only one year. Congratulations indeed! Give yourselves a pat on the back, bloggers!
