It’s official. We have a new Governor General. Her name is Michaelle Jean. Am I surprised a separatist sympathizer would be appointed to the post? Of course not. More Quebec ass kissing by Paul Martin that’s all. But I shouldn’t prejudge. Let her show her stuff, we’ll see. In the meantime I just can’t help but approach this with a degree of apprehension. She can’t possibly blow as much money as Clarkson did - can she?
I have to admit the swearing in ceremony was quite colourful with the new GG saying all of the right things. One comment however struck me as somewhat ironic.
“The time of the ‘two solitudes’ that for too long described the character of this country is past.”
This is coming from someone who was filmed toasting to independence with a group of well known separatists including Pierre Vallieres himself.
