Big Blue Bash - Part 1

It’s been awhile, February to be exact, since the Big Blue Bash graced the pages of this blog and my how the membership has grown since then. The Blogging Tories now boast more than 130 member sites! That’s plenty of reading from some of the finest Conservative bloggers this country has to offer. This carnival is also becoming a major undertaking - but it is a blast! I mean what else could a person ask for? I’m sitting here listening to some jazz on Winamp and enjoying a cold one (or two or so) while reading some excellent blogs.

I had originally planned to have this published by the weekend but circumstances being what they were I was unable to. Therefore I stayed up most of the night to be able to have it ready for Monday morning.

In the past I relied on my RSS readers to plan this carnival but for one reason or another there a handful of blogs whose feeds won’t validate. So I’ve worked out a new system by which to conduct the carnival. I’ve added the blogroll to My Bookmarks in Firefox which will automatically alphabetize the list making the process somewhat easier to keep track of. So without further adieu let’s get down to business.

We begin at (705) Blue where BLUE705 questions the conduct of Liberal MP Scott Brison. During QP Brison, refusing to answer a question put to him by MP Jason Kenny, sunk to a new low by saying he had “spanked” Kenny with his answers in the past and can only conclude Kenny enjoys it. I realize tempers can flare at times and things are said in the heat of the moment but this is tasteless. BLUE705 also makes clear his feelings on the CPC’s decision to vote with the Liberals on the budget and takes aim at the fed’s decision to get into the sperm/egg donor business of all things!

Moving along to 905 Tory we see a couple of items on the topic of health care in Canada. 905 Tory declares that he wants the right to spend his hard earned money as he sees fits. Seems reasonable to me. He also provides a link to a most interesting albeit not very scientific poll. The result may or may not surprise you. BTW, enjoy the vacation! See you when you get back.

A Chick Named Marzi provides some insight into Quebec’s lack of interest in the Canada Day Parade. She also noted that sales of [Michael] Jackson’s greatest hits album, Number Ones, have risen by 370 per cent since he was acquitted. Finally, she provides a link to a story describing how Karla Homalka is nervous about her release from The Big House fearing what may await her on the outside. Now I’m not one to advocate vigilante justice but…I’ve never been known as being inflexible either.

Over at A Harper Liberal we see the author has been hit by the unrelenting book tag worm - oh the horror. Some interesting titles on that list including 2 entries from one of my fave authors George Orwell - Animal Farm and 1984. He also expresses his disappointment with the result of the budget vote and makes a valid argument in calling for changes to our national health care system.

A La Derecha continues to dispense ‘political commentary that tilts to the right’ as he provides some insight into the political situation out in British Columbia. He also makes his feelings about Henry Morgentaler perfectly clear - can’t say I blame him.

Zednik of A View From the Right takes issue with the ramblings of one George Stroumboulopoulos. He also weighs in on the Grewal tapes exposing the ridiculous claims that the tapes were altered for what they truly are.

Wudrick Blog does a fantastic job of blowing away a Belinda Stronach op-ed which appeared in the Globe & Mail - Canada’s national newspaper. He also takes issue with the repugnant claims of one Henry Morgentaler.

Adam Daifallah explains why he thinks André Boisclair is a man to keep an eye on. He also has a good op-ed on why he thinks George Bush is a great President linking to some White House press releases.

Adrian Reimer shares thoughts on ‘parallel financing’ comparing it to 2-tier health care. He also dishes out one of the better lines I’ve heard in awhile, “…the Iraqi gov’t is more democratic than ours.” Indeed.

Rounding out Part 1 is Against the Current where the author OttawaCon is pleased that the Liberals caved in by reversing their previous decision not to support a CPC demand to create “[a]…fully independent commissioner to protect whistleblowers and investigate their disclosures.” He also disputes the claims of Legault that a sovereign Quebec would be better off.
