The Christian Conspiracy pt 2

On Friday I mentioned that Canada’s national newspaper the Globe & Mail did a piece on the “infiltration” of the CPC by *shudder* Christians. (see The Christian Conspiracy) I got to thinking about this some more, and the more I thought about it the more I realized just how silly the story is.
First and foremost the number of exposed Christians in relation to the number of available seats is negligible at best. There is no hostile takeover in progress here - sorry Gloria. Secondly, the article conveniently ignores the fact that the ridings these now exposed covert operatives are running in aren’t exactly the safest ridings around. Thirdly, who cares that they are Christian? I somehow suspect that if they were Jewish or Sikh or Muslim it wouldn’t have even been mentioned - it would be a non-issue. The fact they are Christian has suddenly raised the eyebrows of certain individuals. Fourthly, (is that a word?) I understand and agree with the concept of separation of church and state but does that preclude politicians from being guided by their own sense of morality? Even the Charter of Rights and Freedoms recognize the supremacy of God.
The G&A would do well to concentrate its efforts and resources on covering real stories, not fabricated ones. To read more on this story check out Faith at Work Blog where Mike has a great summary.
