Charges Against Pantano Dropped

Posted on | May 27, 2005 |

Congratulations Lt. Ilario Pantano! Who is he you ask? A little background info is in order. On April 15, 2004 Pantano and his fellow Marines were raiding a house full of weapons south of Baghdad when they came across two suspected terrorists trying to make a getaway in a SUV. Pantano prevented their escape by shooting out their tires. He then forced the suspects to search for explosive devices and hidden compartments. Suddenly and without warning, the suspects turned and attempted to rush the Lt. and his men so Pantano killed them. When word got out about what had happened the bleeding hearts were tripping over themselves in their pathetic attempts to exact some sort of punishment on the brave Marines. However the Marine hierarchy would have none of that.

The decision yesterday by Maj. Gen. Richard Huck, commander of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C., to throw out the charges comes after mounting evidence the last two months that Lt. Pantano acted within the rules of engagement. Over a half-dozen Marines testified about Lt. Pantano’s abilities at a hearing in April.

It was the correct decision. These men are in the fight of their lives with a barbaric enemy - let them do their jobs.
