The Big Blue Bash part-1

Posted on | February 27, 2005 |

It’s time for another roundup of the BloggingTories which I like to call The Big Blue Bash. It’s been awhile since my last roundup and my goodness how the membership has increased since then! But anyhoo let’s go…!

We begin with an great piece by Mark Peters in which he discusses Canada’s refusal to participate in the US missile defence system and how it relates to sovereignty, or lack of. There’s some good analysis of the socialist thinking that has come to dominate our country. He also ponders the ramifications of a proposed bill in Maine “…to prohibit abortions based on the sexual orientation of the unborn baby.”

Over at Political Staples the question of the day is “What type of decriminalized pot is PM Martin smoking?” It’s a good question. Greg also mentions the great time he had at the Toronto Blogfest and provides a link to a hilarious “…clip of Foreign Affairs Minister Pettigrew trying to answer the question of what happens if the US has to use BMD to shoot down an incoming missile.”

The discussion on missile defence and sovereignty continues at Brock:On the Attack. He provides a unique insight into the discussion as he lived in the US when this issue first came up. Also, check out the great dust-up going on.

The Liberals have much in common with John Kerry when it comes to missile defence, that is, they voted against participation in the project before they voted in favour of it. Confused? That’s the whole idea. Check out these 2 pieces over at Joel Fleming here and here.

For more on the missile defence system stop by Burkean Canuck - there’s a whole whack of posts dealing with the topic. Some good reading.

Gin and Tonic also wades into the BMD fray (it’s a hot topic right now) and offers some post-budget thoughts. Changing gears a little, check out the nice pics.

Getting away from the BMD controversy for a moment, Angry in the Great White North has a wonderful post about gays and the Anglican Church. They also have a most disturbing story about Dr. Salem Al-Mazrooei. Who is he? Head over there and check it out - all I’ll say is that there are some sick bastards in this world.

Dust My Broom has a good item up about Ward Churchill. They also take a closer look at the results of a recent Ipsos poll.

Some interesting thoughts worth further exploration can be found on tax cuts over at Conservative Life. They also take a look at a controversy-in-the-making over a story in the Western Standard.

Closing out part 1 of the Big Blue Bash you can read an excellent piece on the Liberal Party at Rempelia Prime. Leftwing goony birds don’t like it when Stephen Harper makes references to the Liberal Party’s past? Perhaps he has good reason. In addition, thoughts are offered on the budget and Harper’s reaction to it - woulda, coulda, shoulda.

End of part-1. Coming up next, Big Blue Bash part-2…
