Ham Radio Plays Vital Role in Disaster
Interesting item from Slashdot. Evidently a team of ham radio operators arrived in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to setup the areas first ham radio station 2 weeks before the tsunami hit. Once the disaster was well under way, the operators, relying on car batteries, became the main link to the outside world. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
