Deadly Flu Bug Recreated
BBC News reports that a US team of scientists have recreated a deadly flu virus. An experiment in which researchers added 2 genes to a non-lethal modern flu strain proved very lethal to lab mice which died within days after being exposed.
While the research is vital in providing us with new and better ways of assessing the dangers posed by new strains it also demonstrates how dangerous this information can be in the wrong hands. A biological terrorist attack is not out of the question.
